Today, we focus on Jesus teaching in Matthew on purity. The underlying theme of restoration and inclusion is the central focus of the teaching. The key to being a Christian is not perfection but Love. Real love is Perfection. However, we have come to believe through distorted teaching that purity is all about being perfect. It is about being loving.
We have people around us who think that only Christians have the ability to be pure. This is not so. The ability to love ourselves, each other, the environment and God lies within all humanity. We must not be dividing but welcoming and including all who come among us. That is the Spirit of Jesus-alive in us. We must stand against those who attempt to separate and throw away. God's love is for all who turn to God, no-matter what their tradition.
