"WE HAVE NO POWER IN OURSELVES TO HELP OURSELVES: WHEN WE ARE DISCOURAGED BY OUR WEAKNESS, GIVE US STRENGTH TO FOLLOW CHRIST..."
This collect and the readings from today reminds us of our humanness. We are called to follow the pathway of love. We are always tempted due to our own imperfections. We have personal emptiness and need that drives us to follow our impulses and leads us into temptations. Theses impulses often blind us to the reality of inclusive love of Jesus which we must attempt to replicate in our lives. We are on a journey with Jesus in Lent and in life.
In our weakness and inadequacy we must remember that we are not alone. People in the world in crisis often feel alone. The church through the PWDF (Primate's Relief Fund) are attempting to reach out to those without. Especially today, we remember the people in Africa whose lives and homes have been whipped out by the recent cyclone. We reach out to others in love.
We have to be mindful to not only thank God for love but also to live the love of God each and everyday. Who we are on Sunday is who we are on Monday. This is the meaning of the the parable of the Fig Tree in Luke. We are called as a community to bear fruit. We are also to nurture each other so that we all flourish. This is a collective goal. Lent is a time to rededicate ourselves to that end. May God Bless our journey of Lent.
