Happy Thanksgiving! We are all on the planet alive due to the gift of life that comes from God. We have evolved from the seas over a billion years. When we ask God to bless our pets, we acknowledge the fact we are a part of the animal kingdom and in community with them. Our dogs share 60% of our DNA. The sea is our collective womb.
Our loving and giving planet is at risk due to our human-made pollution and greed! We were to care for the planet according to the book of Genesis in the Hebrew Scripture. We are not doing it! We are on the edge of the 6th extinguishment in which life on earth-the human race in particular will die. This could be a non-reversible track unless we act now! At best, we have 20 years to amend our ways on the whole planet. We must resist the calls by politicians and others to abandon our meager and poor attempts to re-mediate the death of the earth! The warming of the planet via carbon dioxide and the release of methane is making the sea acidic. This in turn kills the plankton and the sea coral. The plankton produces 50% of the the oxygen that we breath. Human-made Climate change is real, is happening now and is accelerating! We are one planet with one God and we must work together to reverse this looming death. The Bible is very clear-God will not rush in and rescue us from our follishness!
It is up to us to push the politicians to to increase, not decrease our efforts to stop the release of carbon into the atmosphere and move to renewable energy sources. This is a Christian Ministry of true Thanksgiving. I urge all of us as a ministry to write our leaders, act at home, and bring this truth to family and friends as you celebrate this Thanksgiving.
